From Internet : "One of the most interesting businesses in the park was Deer Ridge Chalet located at the intersection of the roads from Beaver Meadows and Horseshoe Park and at the start of the climb over Trail Ridge Road.
Today, this is the trailhead for Deer Mountain and is completely void of structures.
Deer Ridge Chalet began as a modest business in 1917 when Orville W. Bechtel built a simple lean-to where he sold lemonade and postcards. A year later, Bechtel added a log store. By 1926, the place had grown to a half dozen cabins and an Indian gift shop.
The main lodge was constructed in 1927 with additions in 1929 and 1933, including a 50-foot observation tower, Texaco gasoline station, livery barn and three outhouses."
